A Parent’s Guide to Giftedness
How can I tell if my child is gifted?
The recognition of giftedness depends to a great extent on the ability of the family and school environment to read the signs and seek guidance. If your child achieves developmental milestones earlier than expected, is intellectually curious, dedicates themselves - almost obsessively - to areas of interest, learns quickly and deeply, has advanced language skills, grasps abstract concepts, demonstrates independent ways of thinking and learning, has a vivid imagination, and a strong sense of justice, then they may be gifted.

Why guidance matters?
The lives of gifted children are filled with challenges. High levels of anxiety, perfectionism, and academic underachievement, due to boredom often experienced in traditional classrooms, are just a few of them. And it doesn't stop there. Asynchronous development breeds a sense of difference, which can lead to social isolation and put the child's mental health at risk. The chances of misdiagnosis are also extremely high, as many characteristics of giftedness overlap with traits found in other divergences under the umbrella of neurodiversity, such as autism, ADHD, ODD, OCD, etc.
